How to Apply for Aurora, Colorado Water Rebates
Get written approval before removing any lawn. $3 per sq ft for a water-wise landscape, $0.50 per sq ft for low-water grass. Remove at least 500 sq ft of existing front-yard lawn to qualify.

Talk to Water Conservation first
Call 303.739.7195 or email conservation@auroragov.org to discuss your project scope before you apply. Aurora Water has to approve the project before any grass comes out, and the rebate is not retroactive.

Apply during a group window
Submit your application during the spring group (March 1 to July 1) or fall group (November 1 to January 1). Include before photos of the existing irrigated lawn and a W-9 form.

Install after approval
Once you have written approval, remove at least 500 square feet of front-yard bluegrass and install the water-wise landscape with shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, and mulch.

Submit and get paid
Submit your completed project details. The rebate is a one-time payment by check, and amounts of $600 or more generate a 1099.
Aurora approves projects before any grass is removed, so start with the conservation team. The pre-approval and 500-square-foot minimum are what trip most people up.
