How to use this page

Enter your zip code above to see programs in your area, or scroll down and click your state to browse. Each state page lists program names, rebate amounts, eligibility rules, and links to apply. Programs change yearly. We update this list regularly, but always confirm details on the program's website before starting work.

How rebate programs work

Most turf replacement and water conservation rebates require pre-approval before you start work. Apply first, then wait for confirmation. Starting before approval is the most common reason applications get denied. Take clear before photos of the area you plan to convert. After you complete the work, submit after photos from the same angles.

Many programs are first-come, first-served, so apply early in the fiscal year when funds are available. Each state page below has program details and application links. For project planning tips, see our step-by-step lawn replacement guide.

What rebates look like in practice

Amounts vary by city and program. Austin Water offers up to $5,000 per year for turf-to-native conversion. Georgetown, Texas has a similar cap. Southern Nevada Water Authority (Las Vegas area) pays up to $5 per square foot for the first 10,000 sq ft, which can add up to $50,000 for a large yard. Smaller programs might offer $500 to $2,000. Check your state page for specifics.

Rebate FAQ

When should I apply?
Apply before you start any work. Most programs require pre-approval. If you remove turf or plant before approval, you usually won't qualify. Many programs open in fall or early winter for the next fiscal year. Funds run out, so apply early.
Do I need a landscape plan?
Many programs ask for a plan showing what you'll plant and where. Pollinator Patch can generate a printable plan for your yard. Some cities have templates. Check the program requirements on your state page.
What if my city isn't listed?
We track programs across the US and add new ones as we find them. You can also search your water utility's website or call your city's conservation office. Some counties and regional water districts offer rebates even when the city doesn't.
