Lincoln has the strongest residential rebate programs in Nebraska: Rainscaping ($2,000 max, 50% cost-share) and Waterwise Lawns ($4,000 max, 75% cost-share) for converting lawn to native or water-efficient landscapes. Omaha MUD offers irrigation efficiency rebates. Contact your local NRD for additional programs.

How to apply for Nebraska rebates
- 1.Apply for pre-approval before you start. Starting work first is the most common reason applications get denied.
- 2.Take before photos of the area you plan to convert, then matching after photos from the same angles once the work is done.

Rainscaping Lincoln – Sustainable Landscapes Cost Share
City of Lincoln Watershed Management
Cost-share reimbursement for rain gardens, bioswales, waterwise lawns, and pavement removal. Up to 50% of eligible expenses, maximum $2,000. Applicants cover initial costs, then submit receipts after project completion for reimbursement.
Separate Waterwise Lawns and Landscapes program offers 75% cost-share up to $4,000 but may fill quickly. Check lincoln.ne.gov for current program status and deadlines.
