Major cities without dedicated landscape rebates

  • Dallas: Free irrigation evaluations and water-wise landscaping guidance, but no turf conversion rebate currently.
  • Houston: Rain barrel program and conservation tips. No dedicated native landscaping rebate found.
  • Plano / Frisco / McKinney: Check with North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) for updates. Educational programs available.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I get back from Texas landscaping rebates?
Rebate amounts vary by city and program. Georgetown offers up to $3,000/yr for turf replacement, LCRA WaterSmart provides up to $3,000 total, and San Antonio SAWS offers seasonal coupons up to $150 each (four per year). Many smaller programs offer $95 to $400.
Do I need pre-approval before replacing my lawn?
Most Texas rebate programs require pre-approval before you start work. Apply first, get approved, then begin your landscaping project. Starting without approval may disqualify you from the rebate.
Can I use native plants for rebate programs?
Yes. Most Texas turf conversion rebates specifically encourage native and drought-tolerant plants. LCRA, Georgetown, SAWS, and Kyle all support native plant conversions.
Do these rebates work if I live in an HOA?
Rebate programs are offered by water utilities, not HOAs. You can apply for a rebate regardless of HOA status. However, check your HOA guidelines about landscaping changes before starting a project.
How often do rebate programs change?
Programs typically update annually (often tied to the fiscal year). Application windows, rebate amounts, and eligibility can change. We verify this page regularly, but always confirm directly with your water provider before applying.
