Texas Water Rebates

LCRA WaterSmart Rebates: Central Texas

LCRA WaterSmart offers rebates to residents of many Central Texas cities. Up to $3,000 total for turf conversion, irrigation upgrades, compost, mulch, and soil improvements. Programs stack: if your city has its own rebates (like Round Rock or Pflugerville), you can often combine them with LCRA.

What you'll need

  • Your address and LCRA or utility account number

  • Before and after photos of the converted area
  • A W-9 if your total rebate is $600 or more

Pollinator Patch can help: It picks natives for your Central Texas ecoregion, designs an HOA-friendly layout, and assembles a documentation packet to support your application.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Don't remove turf before LCRA approves your pre-application. Work started early may not qualify.
  • Don't miss the 90-day window. You have 90 days from finishing the work to submit the final application.
  • Don't convert less than 200 sq ft. That is the minimum healthy-turf area for the rebate.
  • Don't leave turf grass or automatic spray irrigation in the new bed. Drip irrigation is allowed.
  • Don't apply without itemized receipts and before and after photos, and include a W-9 if your total rebate is $600 or more.

LCRA stacks with city programs. Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, and Leander residents can often combine LCRA with city rebates for maximum savings.
