California Water Rebates

Fairfield, California Water Rebates

The Solano County Water Agency runs a regional Water-Efficient Landscape Rebate for customers of its participating member agencies, covering Fairfield, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Dixon, and Rio Vista. It pays $1.50 per square foot of living turf you convert, up to $1,500 (1,000 sq ft) per residential site for the lifetime of the site. The step most people miss: you have to receive a Notice to Proceed before you start any work.

How to apply

  1. Read the program terms, conditions, and FAQs
  2. Submit the pre-approval application with photos of the existing turf, before removing anything
  3. Wait for your Notice to Proceed by email or mail
  4. Complete the conversion within 120 days, using living low-water plants (no artificial turf)
  5. Submit the post-inspection form to receive $1.50 per sq ft

What you'll need

  • Pre-approval application form
  • Before photos of the existing turf
  • W-9 IRS form (required for rebates of $600 or more)
  • Written property owner consent (if you rent)
  • Post-inspection form and after photos

Pollinator Patch can help: It picks Solano County natives for the Sacramento Valley around Fairfield, designs an HOA-friendly layout that clears the 300 sq ft minimum, and assembles your before-photo and plant-list packet so the Notice to Proceed application is ready.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Don't remove turf before your Notice to Proceed arrives. Starting early disqualifies the project.
  • Don't install artificial or synthetic turf in the rebated area. It is not allowed in the converted landscape.
  • Don't convert less than 300 sq ft, and don't let the project run past the 120-day completion window.
