California Water Rebates
Riverside, California Water Rebates
Western Municipal Water District adds its own $3 per square foot on top of the regional Metropolitan Water District turf rebate for the first 1,000 square feet of turf removed. It serves Riverside and the surrounding Inland Empire. You reserve through SoCal Water$mart, and when you enter your Western Water account information, the combined amount displays automatically. Funding is limited, so reserve before you start.

- Remove the turf and install living low-water plants, no synthetic turf in the rebated area
- Submit your after photos and documentation through SoCal Water$mart to receive the combined rebate
What you'll need
- Western Water account number
- Before photos of the existing turf
- SoCal Water$mart reservation confirmation
- Planting plan or plant list
- After photos and itemized receipts
Pollinator Patch can help: It picks living low-water California natives suited to Riverside and the Inland Empire, designs an HOA-friendly layout that meets the regional program rules, and assembles your before-photo and plant-list packet for the SoCal Water$mart reservation.
Avoid these mistakes
- Don't remove turf before your SoCal Water$mart reservation is confirmed. Reserving first is required.
- Don't install synthetic turf in the rebated area. The regional program does not count it as an eligible conversion.
- Don't expect the $3 supplemental on more than the first 1,000 sq ft. Beyond that, only the MWD base applies.
- Don't wait to reserve. Funding is limited.
