Salt Lake City Water Rebate FAQs

Can I combine multiple small lawn areas to meet the 200 square foot minimum?
Yes. Multiple non-contiguous lawn areas on the same property can be combined to meet the 200 square foot minimum. Each area must be included in the initial application and approved during the pre-conversion site visit.
Does artificial turf qualify as a water-wise replacement?
No. Artificial turf does not qualify as a water-efficient landscaping replacement under the Utah Division of Water Resources program. Qualifying replacements include drought-tolerant plants, wood chip or bark mulch, decomposed granite, and permeable paving.
Is there a bonus rebate for switching to drip irrigation?
Some participating water districts layer a drip irrigation conversion bonus on top of the base $2/sq ft rebate. Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, for example, adds $1/sq ft for switching overhead sprinklers to drip. Check utahwatersavers.com for the specific bonus available in your district.
