City of Buckeye Water Resources runs a Turf Removal Rebate that pays 50% of your total turf-removal cost or $1.75 per square foot, whichever is lower. You replace natural grass with low-water landscaping, with a minimum of 500 square feet converted. Program funding is capped at $10,000 per fiscal year across all customers, first-come, first-served. Apply and get approval before you start so you do not remove grass on a closed program.

How to apply

  1. Confirm you are a City of Buckeye water customer
  2. Search "Turf Removal Rebate" on buckeyeaz.gov (Water Conservation) and apply
  3. Get approval before removing any turf
  4. Remove at least 500 sq ft of turf and install low-water landscaping
  5. Submit after photos and receipts to receive 50% of cost or $1.75 per sq ft, whichever is lower
