How to apply

  1. Submit the application with your plant list and landscape design for pre-approval
  2. Wait for Zone 7 review (typically 1 to 2 weeks)
  3. Receive your Notice to Proceed before removing any lawn
  4. Complete the work within 120 days, with 50% low-water coverage at maturity and no artificial turf
  5. Submit receipts and completion photos, then pass post-construction inspection if required

What you'll need

  • Completed application form
  • Plant list and landscape design
  • HOA approval letter (if applicable)
  • Plant, mulch, compost, and irrigation receipts
  • Pre- and post-conversion photos

Pollinator Patch can help: It picks Tri-Valley natives for the inner Coast Range around Livermore, designs an HOA-friendly layout that clears the 50% coverage requirement, and assembles the plant-list and design packet your pre-approval needs.

Avoid these mistakes

  • Don't remove your lawn before the Notice to Proceed. All projects must be approved prior to lawn removal.
  • Don't install artificial turf or skip plants entirely. Both are excluded from the rebate.
  • Don't drop below 100 sq ft of street-visible lawn or below 50% low-water plant coverage at maturity.
