How to Apply for Long Beach, California Water Rebates

Reserve before you remove
Apply online at the Lawn-to-Garden site and reserve your project with photos of your existing lawn. Do not remove any grass until you have written approval.

Design to the requirements
Plan a garden with California native or California-friendly plants at 65% coverage at maturity, a stormwater retention feature, efficient irrigation, and mulch. Use the up-to-$1,500 design reimbursement if you hire a designer. No synthetic turf.

Install and document
Remove the lawn, install the garden, and take after photos. Keep itemized receipts.

Submit and get paid
Complete the project checklist and submit for your $3 per square foot incentive (up to 5,000 sq ft) plus the design reimbursement.
