How to Apply for Montgomery County, Maryland Water Rebates

Submit a scaled planting plan for pre-approval before you build. $10 per sq ft, 75 sq ft minimum, up to a $7,500 lifetime property maximum. Native plants required.

    Build your planting plan

    Prepare a scaled planting plan and native plant list for a rain garden of at least 75 square feet that intercepts runoff and replaces turf, invasives, or an erosion area.

    Get pre-approval

    Submit the plan for staff review. Wait for written pre-approval before you build. Funds open first-come, first-served on July 1.

    Install and claim

    Install the rain garden with native species, request the post-install inspection, and submit receipts for the $10 per square foot rebate toward your $7,500 lifetime maximum.

Pre-approval of the planting plan is the gate, and funds open July 1. Get your plan in early in the fiscal year.
