Application Steps

  1. 1

    Confirm eligibility and apply first

Check that you live in Brookhaven, East Hampton, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Southampton, or Southold, then submit the application online or by mail before starting any work.

Open the Homeowner Rewards program page
  2. 2

    Get approval before you build

Wait for written approval. Funds are limited and granted first-come, so submit early in the year.

  3. 3

    Build with native species

Install a native garden or rain garden of at least 50 square feet, or rain barrels of at least 50 gallons with mosquito netting. Check plants against the program database. Keep receipts.

  4. 4

    Submit for your rebate check

Send in receipts and photos of the finished project to receive up to $500.

Approval comes before construction here, and funding is first-come. Applying early and waiting for approval before you dig is what keeps the rebate on track.
