How to Apply for Washington, District of Columbia Water Rebates

Start with the free stormwater audit. Copays are small and per practice. Native plantings and rain gardens come ready to install once your audit clears.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Request your free audit

Sign up for the RiverSmart Homes stormwater audit through DOEE. The audit is free and determines which practices your property qualifies for.

    Open RiverSmart Homes
  2. 2

    Pick your practices

After the audit, choose from rain gardens, BayScaping native beds, shade trees, and rain barrels. Each practice has a small copay and a per-property cap.

  3. 3

Pay the copay and schedule install

Pay the per-practice copay and DOEE coordinates installation. Native plantings use Chesapeake Bay watershed species.

The audit is the gate for everything else, so book it first. It also tells you exactly which practices your lot can take.
