How to Apply for Fairfax, Virginia Water Rebates
Request a site visit before you install anything. VCAP covers up to 80% of costs, max $7,000, for rain gardens and conservation landscaping with native plants in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
Application Steps
- 1
Request a site visit first
Submit a site visit request to your local Soil and Water Conservation District. This checks eligibility and identifies which practice fits your property. It is not yet an application for funding.
Find your VCAP district - 2
Plan to the recommendations
After the site visit, plan a conservation landscape or rain garden using native plants per the district checklist. Submit the checklist and supporting documents for review.
- 3
Get approval before installing
Wait for district review, board approval, and a signed contract. Do not buy plants or break ground until the contract is in hand. Installation has to start within 90 days of approval.
- 4
Install, inspect, and get paid
Install the practice, then have the district inspect it. After inspection you complete the reimbursement of up to 80% of costs, capped at $7,000.
VCAP is reimbursement after the fact, so the order matters. The site visit and signed contract are what gate the money.
