How to Get the Lawn Replacement Program

What you get
Water provider partnerships pay $1.75/sq ft (up to $750) toward Resource Central's turf removal service. Resource Central provides the crew, equipment, and composting, and the participant pays $1/sq ft. After the crew removes turf, you must plant at least 50% water-wise plants within 6 months. Minimum 200 sq ft. Applications for the 2026 Lawn Removal service opened March 9, 2026.

- Property located in: Boulder
- Active City of Boulder Water Utility residential account
- Minimum 200 sq ft of healthy lawn
- Pre-approval through Resource Central before any turf removal
- Must plant at least 50% water-wise plant material within 6 months of removal
Before you start
Do not remove turf or begin work before you have written approval. This program requires pre-approval. Starting early can disqualify the project even if everything else is correct.
Resource Central provides the removal crew, and you cannot hire a separate contractor for this program.
