How to Get the Rice Lake Runoff Reduction Program (R3P)

What you get

The Rice Lake Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District reimburses 50% of a qualifying project cost, not to exceed $1,000, after completion. Qualifying projects are shoreline restoration with native vegetation (minimum 300 square feet), a rain garden planted with natives, rock infiltration, and water diversion. Open to Rice Lake property owners along or away from shore; rip rap is excluded (Rice Lake Lake District Reimbursement Program pages; last verified July 2026).

Are you eligible?

• Be a Rice Lake Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District customer
• Property located in: Rice Lake
• Property owner within the Rice Lake Lake District, shoreline or inland
• Complete the Shoreline Evaluation Tool and register the district as Partner Organization
• Site visit with the Lake Coordinator before work begins
• Shoreline restoration must be at least 300 square feet
• Original receipts at a post-install verification visit

   Apply and get written approval first

   Submit your application to Rice Lake Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District and wait for written approval before you remove any turf or start work. Starting early is the most common reason a rebate is denied.

   Do the conversion

   Replace your lawn with the qualifying landscaping, following the eligibility requirements above.

   Submit your claim

   After the work is done, submit your claim on the official program page. Confirm the exact forms, receipts, and any photos they require there, since those vary by program.
