Santa Clara Valley Water offers a landscape conversion rebate of $2 per square foot for replacing high-water lawns and pools with low-water or native landscaping. Up to $3,000 residential ($100,000 commercial). Serves San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and surrounding cities in Santa Clara County. Funding available through June 30, 2026 or until depleted. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.

How to apply

  1. Confirm Valley Water eligibility. Check with your water provider. San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale typically qualify.
  2. Get pre-approval. Apply at valleywater.dropletportal.com before starting work.
  3. Complete conversion. Replace turf with low-water or native landscaping. Save receipts and photos.
  4. Submit for rebate. Follow Valley Water portal process.
