How to Apply for Erie, Colorado Water Rebates
Get design approval before work begins. $2 per sq ft for garden plantings, $1 per sq ft for low-water grass, up to $2,000 per year. Artificial turf is not eligible, and living plants must cover 70% of the project area.
Application Steps
- 1
Get design approval first
Submit your design to the Town of Erie between January 1 and October 2, 2026 and wait for approval. Submitting designs without approval, or starting work first, disqualifies the project.

Design to the requirements
Plan to remove at least 200 square feet of irrigated turf and replace it with low-water plantings (living plants at 70% of the area) or low-water grass. Acceptable mulch is shredded bark, bark chips, or rock. No artificial turf.
- 3
Install and inspect
Complete and have the project inspected by November 6, 2026. Use drip irrigation in medians. Keep before and after photos and itemized receipts.
- 4
Submit and get paid
After the final walkthrough, submit your receipts and the rebate application for $2 per square foot (plantings) or $1 per square foot (grass), up to $2,000 per year.
Erie funds are limited and first-come, first-served, and design approval comes before any work. The pre-approval and 70% living-coverage rules are what trip most people up.
