How to Apply for Prescott, Arizona Water Rebates

Get pre-approval from the Conservation Office before removing turf or building a rain garden. $1 per sq ft of irrigated turf, $1.25 with drought-tolerant natives. Rain gardens $3 per sq ft, cisterns $0.50 to $1 per gallon. You have to be a City of Prescott water customer and the property owner of record.

Application Steps

  1. 1

    Pre-apply before you start

Turf replacement and rain gardens both require a pre-application and pre-approval. Contact the City of Prescott Conservation Office at water.smart@prescott-az.gov or 928-777-1130 before removing turf or building.

  2. 2

    Plant for the higher rate

Replant removed turf with drought-tolerant, low-water, non-invasive plants to earn $1.25 per square foot instead of the standard $1.

  3. 3

    Document and submit

Keep all receipts, take before and after photos, record your square footage or gallons, and submit to the Conservation Office.

Prescott requires a pre-application for both turf replacement and rain gardens, so contact the Conservation Office before you start. The pre-approval and native-plant steps are what trip most people up.
