Coral Honeysuckle is a perennial vine native to North Texas. It grows best in part sun with medium water needs.
Coral Honeysuckle is a native vine that hummingbirds love. Red tubular flowers bloom from March through October. It is evergreen in mild winters and can climb a trellis, fence, or arbor. Unlike the invasive Japanese Honeysuckle, it does not spread aggressively.
Plant Coral Honeysuckle in part sun. It needs moderate water. Use it on a mailbox, pergola, or fence. In HOA neighborhoods, a well-maintained vine on a structure reads as intentional. Prune after flowering to control size.
This plant is non-toxic to dogs and cats. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. It pairs well with Turk's Cap and Flame Acanthus for a red-flower hummingbird garden. Verify you have the native Lonicera sempervirens, not an invasive species.
