Arizona Water Rebates
Chandler, Arizona Water Rebates
The City of Chandler pays $1.50 per square foot for single-family residential customers who remove non-synthetic grass and replace it with city-approved low-water landscaping. The maximum rebate is $2,000 per property. As of January 1, 2026, the per-square-foot rate was reduced from $2.00 to $1.50 and the maximum from $3,000 to $2,000 when the City Council extended the program. Rebates are awarded first come, first served from the date a completed application is received.
Common steps for every program in this guide
- Download and complete the rebate application. Get the Single-Family Grass Removal Rebate application at chandleraz.gov or by calling 480-782-3580. Fill out the property information, estimated square footage of grass to remove, and proposed replacement materials. Your application date determines your position in the first-come, first-served queue.
- Submit your completed application and wait for approval before starting work. Submit the completed application to Chandler Water Conservation. The rebate is not retroactive — grass removed before your completed application date does not qualify. Wait for written confirmation before purchasing materials or starting removal.
- Complete the grass removal and landscaping installation. Remove all non-synthetic grass from the approved area and install the city-approved replacement landscaping as described in your application. Keep receipts and photographs of the work.
- Request a post-installation inspection and submit for rebate payment. Contact Chandler Water Resources to schedule the post-installation inspection. After the inspector verifies the completed conversion, the rebate payment will be processed. The rebate is calculated at $1.50 per verified square foot, maximum $2,000.
