What you get
This program ended March 1, 2026 and is no longer accepting applications. While active, it paid $5 per square foot to replace ornamental turfgrass with low-water landscaping, plus $100 per new tree and $1 per gallon of rainwater harvesting basin capacity. The program replaced over 105,000 sq ft of turfgrass and saved nearly 4 million gallons of water annually. Tucson Water has not announced a successor program as of last verification — check their website for any new offerings.

Turf removal is no longer listed on Tucson Water residential rebates. A Turf Removal Rebate now exists for commercial and multifamily customers only ($5/sq ft per Tucson Water commercial program); residential customers have no turf rebate (Tucson Water conservation pages, last verified June 2026).
