Native to

WY

Bellardi bog sedge is a compact, evergreen sedge that forms small, neat clumps in alpine and subalpine areas. This low-growing native produces inconspicuous flowers during summer months and maintains its green foliage year-round.

In an HOA neighborhood

Bellardi Bog Sedge takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small size makes it appear sparse in typical landscaping
  • Specialized bog plant may struggle in conventional yard conditions
  • Lacks visual impact expected in maintained landscapes

Wildlife value

This sedge provides habitat and food for small wildlife but has limited pollinator appeal due to its wind-pollinated flowers. It offers nesting material and cover for ground-dwelling creatures.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
