Coinvine is an evergreen vine that can spread extensively, reaching 5-20 feet in both height and width. It produces small flowers from spring through summer and works well as ground cover or climbing on fences and structures. This salt-tolerant plant thrives in full sun conditions.

In an HOA neighborhood

Coinvine takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: high. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Vigorous spreading habit can appear uncontrolled
  • May be viewed as too wild or weedy for formal landscapes
  • Large size requires significant space and regular management

Wildlife value

The flowers attract bees and butterflies during its long blooming season from March through July. As a legume, it also helps fix nitrogen in the soil.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
