This hybrid carnivorous plant produces distinctive pitcher-shaped leaves that trap and digest insects. It forms compact clumps with colorful tubular traps and produces nodding flowers in spring. The plant requires consistently moist to wet soil conditions and full sun exposure.

In an HOA neighborhood

Hybrid Pitcherplant takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: high. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Unusual carnivorous appearance may seem too exotic
  • Requires bog-like conditions that look unkempt
  • Very specialized growing requirements

Wildlife value

The flowers attract bees and flies during the spring blooming period. As a carnivorous plant, it helps control flying insect populations naturally.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
