London rocket is a small annual wildflower that grows 8-24 inches tall with delicate yellow flowers in spring. This drought-tolerant plant thrives in full sun and requires minimal water once established. It completes its life cycle in one year and readily self-seeds in suitable conditions.

In an HOA neighborhood

London Rocket takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Considered a weedy species that can spread aggressively
  • Dies back completely after flowering, leaving bare patches
  • May be viewed as unkempt or unintentional growth

Wildlife value

The spring blooms attract bees and beetles during the March through May flowering period. As an annual, it provides seasonal nectar resources for early spring pollinators.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
