Brickellia longifolia is a drought-tolerant native perennial that forms compact clumps of narrow leaves. It produces clusters of small white or cream-colored flowers from summer into fall, attracting beneficial insects while requiring minimal water once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Longleaf Brickellbush takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Small inconspicuous flowers may appear weedy to HOAs
  • Dies back completely in winter leaving bare stems
  • Not widely recognized as an ornamental plant

Wildlife value

This plant is valuable for late-season pollinators, providing nectar for native bees and butterflies when many other flowers have finished blooming.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
