Seasonvine is a climbing vine that can spread extensively, reaching up to 20 feet in both height and width. It produces small flowers from May through August and goes dormant in winter, losing its leaves completely.

In an HOA neighborhood

Seasonvine takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: high. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Extremely vigorous growth can appear uncontrolled
  • Goes completely bare in winter
  • Can overwhelm nearby plants without regular pruning

Wildlife value

The flowers attract bees and wasps during the growing season. As a native vine, it provides nesting sites and shelter for small wildlife.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
