Clarkia biloba, or Two-lobed Clarkia, is a vibrant native annual wildflower growing 1-2 feet tall. It produces showy pink to lavender blooms with distinctive two-lobed petals during late spring and early summer. This drought-tolerant plant works well in borders, meadow gardens, or naturalized areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

Twolobe Clarkia is an HOA-friendly choice in the right placement. Maintenance level: moderate. Tidiness: 3 out of 5.

Works well in: mid zone, backyard only, foundation.

  • Annual nature means seasonal dieback
  • Can look untidy after blooming
  • May self-seed and appear somewhat random if not managed

Wildlife value

Two-lobed Clarkia provides valuable nectar for native bees and butterflies during its bloom period. It's particularly important for specialist native bees that rely on Clarkia species.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
