LCRA WaterSmart Rebates: Central Texas

LCRA WaterSmart offers rebates to residents of many Central Texas cities. Up to $3,000 total for turf conversion, irrigation upgrades, compost, mulch, and soil improvements. Programs stack: if your city has its own rebates (like Round Rock or Pflugerville), you can often combine them with LCRA.

How to Apply

  1. 1

    Confirm your water provider participates

Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, Leander, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Dripping Springs typically qualify. Contact your utility or check the LCRA participating provider list to be sure.

    Check eligibility at lcra.org
  2. 2

Create or log in to your LCRA WaterSmart account

You need an account to submit the pre-approval form and the final rebate application. Account creation is free.

    Log in at water.lcra.org
  3. 3

Submit pre-approval before starting work (turf conversion only)

Do not remove turf until LCRA approves your application. Pre-approval is not required for compost, mulch, irrigation, or soil testing. Typical review time is a few business days.

    You'll need:

    • Address and account number
    • Square footage of turf to be removed (min 200 sq ft)
    • Site photos showing existing turf
    Submit pre-approval
  4. 4

Complete the work and gather documentation

Once approved (or immediately for non-turf items), complete your project and collect everything you need for the rebate application.

    You'll need:

    • Itemized receipts showing cost and date of purchase
    • Before photos (required for turf conversion)
    • After photos showing completed work
    • Square footage measurement for turf areas
  5. 5

Submit the final application within 90 days of completion

Log in to water.lcra.org and submit your completed application. Rebates of $600 or more require a W-9 form. You have 90 days from project completion to apply.

    You'll need:

    • Itemized receipts
    • Before and after photos
    • W-9 (if total rebate is $600 or more)
    Submit final application
