Free HOA Landscape Plan Template
Printable PDF for native plant garden proposals
A written plan turns your native garden from something that confuses your HOA into something they can review and approve. This template includes space for a plant list, layout sketch, maintenance schedule, and talking points. One document can also satisfy many rebate program requirements.
What's in the template
- Plant list: Space for common and scientific names, mature size, and sun/water needs. HOA boards and rebate programs often want both names.
- Layout sketch area: A blank grid to draw where plants go. You don't need to be an artist. A simple diagram showing bed shapes and plant placement is enough.
- Maintenance schedule: Notes on when you'll prune, mulch, and edge. Shows you've thought about ongoing care.
- Talking points: Bullets to use when you present. Emphasize water savings, low maintenance, and curb appeal. Frame it as improving the yard, not fighting the HOA.
- Rebate compatibility: Many Texas rebate programs (Austin WaterWise, Georgetown Love Your Local Lawn, SAWS WaterSaver) require a landscape plan. This template works for both.
How to use it
Fill in your plant choices before you meet with your HOA. If you're not sure what to plant, check our best native plants for Texas or your city guide. Add a simple sketch showing bed edges and where each plant goes. Keep the maintenance section realistic. Then print it and bring it to your landscape committee or board meeting. A printed plan signals you've done the work.
For more on the approval process, see our full guide to HOA landscape plans. It covers what to submit, when to submit it, and how to frame your proposal so your board says yes.
