Aleutian mugwort is a compact native perennial with silvery-green aromatic foliage that forms neat clumps. It produces small yellowish flower clusters from July through September and maintains an attractive mounded shape throughout the growing season.

In an HOA neighborhood

Aleutian Mugwort takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: moderate. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Can spread aggressively and look weedy
  • Flowers are small and inconspicuous
  • May appear unkempt during dormant season

Wildlife value

This plant supports bees and beetles with its late summer blooms. The seeds also provide food for birds in fall and winter.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
