Brewer's navarretia is a small annual wildflower that forms low, compact patches. It produces delicate clusters of tiny flowers from May through July and thrives in sunny, dry conditions with minimal water once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Brewer's Navarretia takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small size makes it appear weedy
  • Annual lifecycle creates bare patches when not present
  • Wild appearance doesn't match typical landscaping expectations

Wildlife value

This native plant attracts bees and butterflies during its spring and summer blooming period. Its small flowers provide nectar for pollinators when many other plants are dormant.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
