Common alp-lily is a tiny alpine wildflower that produces delicate white flowers in summer. This diminutive plant forms small clumps and is well-suited to rock gardens or alpine settings where its subtle beauty can be appreciated up close.

In an HOA neighborhood

Common Alp-lily takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Extremely small size makes it nearly invisible in typical landscaping
  • Lacks visual impact expected in front yard plantings
  • May appear sparse or incomplete as landscape feature

Wildlife value

The small white flowers attract bees and beetles during the summer blooming period. Its compact size limits its overall wildlife impact compared to larger native plants.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
