Dwarf snapdragon is a small annual wildflower that produces tiny purple snapdragon-like blooms from May through August. This compact plant stays under a foot tall and works well as a delicate ground cover or border plant in sunny, dry locations.

In an HOA neighborhood

Dwarf Snapdragon takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small flowers may appear weedy to HOAs
  • Annual nature means gaps and reseeding patterns
  • Not commonly recognized as intentional landscaping

Wildlife value

The small flowers attract bees and other pollinators throughout the growing season. Its long bloom period provides consistent nectar from late spring through summer.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
