Smooth aster produces masses of small purple flowers with yellow centers from late summer through fall. This native perennial forms neat clumps with smooth, lance-shaped leaves and sturdy upright stems. It's drought tolerant once established and provides excellent late-season color when many other flowers are fading.

Smooth Aster is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 4 out of 5.

Works well in: front yard, foundation, street edge, mid zone.

  • Dies back completely in winter
  • May self-seed in ideal conditions

Wildlife value
