Filmy angelica is a native perennial forb that grows 2 to 4 feet tall with delicate, finely divided foliage. It produces clusters of small white or greenish-white flowers from June through August, thriving in partially shaded areas with moderate moisture. The plant has an upright, somewhat airy growth habit that works well in naturalized plantings.

In an HOA neighborhood

Filmy Angelica takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Delicate appearance may look weedy to some
  • Dies back completely in winter leaving bare spots
  • Informal growth habit doesn't fit manicured landscapes

Wildlife value

This native plant attracts a diverse array of pollinators including native bees, butterflies, and beneficial beetles during its summer bloom period. The flowers provide nectar and pollen resources that support local pollinator populations.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
