Glade-mallow is a tall native perennial with white clustered flowers that bloom through summer. This robust plant forms upright clumps and thrives in partial sun with moderate moisture. It works well as a background plant in native gardens and naturalized areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

Glade-mallow takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very tall growth creates informal appearance
  • Can look sparse or weedy when not in bloom
  • May appear too wild for formal landscapes

Wildlife value

The white summer flowers attract various bees and beetles for nectar and pollen. Its sturdy structure provides habitat for beneficial insects throughout the growing season.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
