Gordon's ivesia is a compact alpine perennial that forms small, tidy clumps of silvery-green, fern-like foliage. It produces clusters of small yellow flowers from June through August, creating a delicate carpet-like groundcover in sunny, dry locations.

In an HOA neighborhood

Gordon'S Ivesia takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Extremely small size may appear sparse or unfinished
  • Alpine appearance looks too wild for formal landscapes
  • Unknown dormancy behavior creates maintenance uncertainty

Wildlife value

The bright yellow flowers attract native bees and beneficial beetles during the summer blooming period. This alpine plant provides nectar for high-elevation pollinators adapted to harsh mountain conditions.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
