Live-for-ever is a native succulent that forms neat clumps of fleshy, blue-green leaves topped with clusters of small pink or white flowers in late summer. This drought-tolerant perennial maintains a compact, orderly appearance and requires minimal care once established. The plant dies back to the ground in winter but returns reliably each spring.

In an HOA neighborhood

Live-for-ever is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 4 out of 5.

Works well in: front yard, foundation, street edge, mid zone.

  • Appears bare in winter months when dormant

Wildlife value

The late-season blooms are valuable for bees, butterflies, and beetles when many other flowers have finished. The dense flower clusters provide abundant nectar during a critical time for pollinators preparing for winter.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
