Strict forget-me-not is a small annual wildflower that produces clusters of tiny blue flowers from April through June. This compact native grows only 4-12 inches tall and spreads minimally, making it suitable for small garden spaces. As an annual, it completes its entire life cycle in one growing season and may self-seed for the following year.

In an HOA neighborhood

Strict Forget-me-not takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small size makes it appear weedy
  • Annual nature creates gaps and inconsistent coverage
  • Dies back completely after spring bloom period

Wildlife value

The small blue flowers attract native bees and beetles during its spring to early summer blooming period. Its compact size makes it a good choice for supporting pollinators in smaller garden areas.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
