Tropical bushmint is a medium-sized perennial herb that produces small flowers from June through September. This native plant thrives in partial sun with moderate water needs and maintains a compact, bushy growth habit.

In an HOA neighborhood

Tropical Bushmint takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: moderate. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • May be unfamiliar to HOA boards
  • Unknown winter appearance could be problematic

Wildlife value

The extended blooming period provides nectar for bees and butterflies throughout the summer months. Its flowers are particularly attractive to native pollinators during peak growing season.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
