Seymeria cassioides is an annual wildflower that produces delicate yellow blooms from summer through fall. This native forb grows 1-3 feet tall with a somewhat open, branching habit and thrives in partial sun conditions.

In an HOA neighborhood

Yaupon Blacksenna takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: moderate. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Annual growth creates gaps in landscaping
  • Open branching habit can appear unstructured
  • May be viewed as weedy by traditional landscaping standards

Wildlife value

Attracts bees, butterflies, and beetles throughout its extended blooming period from July to October. The long flowering season provides valuable late-season nectar when many other plants have finished blooming.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
