Beach pinweed is a small, drought-tolerant native perennial with tiny inconspicuous flowers that bloom through summer and fall. This low-growing plant forms small clumps and thrives in sandy, well-drained soils with minimal care once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Beach Pinweed takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very small flowers appear weedy to most homeowners
  • Informal growth habit lacks typical garden structure
  • May be mistaken for an actual weed due to size and appearance

Wildlife value

The small flowers attract native bees and beetles during its long blooming period from June through September.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
