Galax is a low-growing evergreen groundcover with glossy, rounded leaves that turn bronze-red in fall and winter. It produces tall spikes of small white flowers in late spring and early summer, creating an elegant carpet effect in shaded areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

Beetleweed is an HOA-friendly choice. Maintenance level: low. Tidiness: 4 out of 5.

Works well in: front yard, foundation, mid zone.

Wildlife value

The flower spikes attract bees and beetles during the blooming period. The dense evergreen foliage provides year-round shelter for small wildlife.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
