Crested anoda is a small annual wildflower that grows 1-3 feet tall with heart-shaped leaves and small white to pale pink flowers. It blooms from May through September and requires minimal water once established. This native plant readily self-seeds and can naturalize in sunny, well-drained areas.

In an HOA neighborhood

Crested Anoda takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Can look weedy and informal
  • Self-seeds unpredictably
  • Annual growth pattern may leave bare spots

Wildlife value

The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and beetles throughout the long blooming season. Seeds provide food for birds and small wildlife.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
