Fendler's hawkweed is a low-growing native wildflower that produces bright yellow daisy-like blooms throughout summer. This drought-tolerant perennial forms compact clumps with hairy leaves and thrives in partial sun with minimal water once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Fendler'S Hawkweed takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Has 'weed' in common name which raises HOA concerns
  • Can spread and naturalize beyond intended areas
  • May look unkempt compared to traditional landscaping

Wildlife value

The cheerful yellow flowers attract native bees and beetles during the summer blooming period. This plant provides nectar for pollinators while requiring very little maintenance or water.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
