Jagged chickweed is a small annual wildflower that forms low mats of delicate foliage topped with tiny white flowers in spring. This diminutive plant blooms from March through May before completing its life cycle.

In an HOA neighborhood

Jagged Chickweed takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Annual growth pattern creates bare spots after die-back
  • Small weedy appearance may not meet landscaping standards
  • Can spread unpredictably through self-seeding

Wildlife value

The small white flowers provide early season nectar for bees and beetles when few other plants are blooming.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
