Large-flowered skeletonplant produces bright pink to purple daisy-like flowers on slender stems throughout summer. This drought-tolerant native perennial forms compact clumps with narrow leaves and requires minimal care once established.

In an HOA neighborhood

Showy Rushpink takes more care to keep looking intentional in a front yard. Maintenance level: low. Consider it for backyard or mid-zone beds rather than the street edge.

Works well in: backyard only.

  • Very uncommon appearance may be seen as weedy
  • Sparse foliage can look unkempt
  • Dies back completely in winter leaving bare stems

Wildlife value

The showy flowers attract native bees and butterflies during the long summer blooming period. Seeds provide food for small birds in late summer and fall.

Native range data from the USDA PLANTS Database and regional native plant society lists. Pollinator and host plant associations compiled from GBIF, iNaturalist, and published ecological literature.
